Cancel Housing

Cancellation Procedures

All JSU-enrolled students with a signed lease agreement from the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life will be billed and held liable for the assigned space for the length of time requested.

If you are not enrolled as a JSU student, your contract is null and void. The Pointe @ JSU is a 12-month lease agreement and students are not required to be enrolled in classes during the summer term.

First-year students who are living on campus are not eligible to cancel their housing assignments.

Lease cancellation refers to ending a signed lease agreement from the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life while maintaining JSU enrollment status.

1. Returning residents who have reapplied for the fall semester may cancel starting April 1 and ending August 1.

2. New fall/spring lease agreements may only be canceled starting April 1 and ending August 1.

2. Spring-only lease agreements may be canceled starting December 1 and ending January 1.

4. Summer lease agreements may only be canceled prior to the published move-in date of that summer term. This does not include The Pointe @ JSU as residents have signed a 12-month lease agreement and are not able to cancel their summer assignments. Pointe residents may submit a buyout request for approval. See Housing Lease Buyout Request below.

5. No lease agreement may be canceled after the set deadlines.

Applications may be cancelled online through the cancellation request beginning April 1.

3. No buyout requests will be accepted after the set deadline.

4. All buyout requests will be submitted to the Housing Review Board for review.

5. If the request is denied, the resident will remain financially obligated to the signed lease agreement from the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life.

6. If the request is approved, the resident will no longer be financially obligated to the signed lease agreement from the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life, but a $1,000 buyout fee will be added to the resident's student account.
