Writing Project Staff
Gloria Horton- Director Jacksonville State University Instructor of English. B.S.Ed. (1964), M.A. (1969), and doctoral work (1969-71), University of Alabama. Mrs. Horton has taught at the University of West Alabama, the University of Alabama, and various high schools in Alabama. She teaches freshman composition, literature courses, and other undergraduate classes. Mrs. Horton has published articles on the teaching of English in Alabama, for English Connections, the WIT Newsletter, Statements, and Councilgram. At JSU, she is director of the JSU Writing Project and the chair of the Academe Steering Committee. Mrs. Horton has twice been the recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Service Award. She has presented many papers at conferences throughout the United States. She is a reviewer for English Education, treasurer of Alabama Council of Teachers of English (ACTE), president of the Oxford Arts Council, and a member of the East Central Alabama United Way Allocations Committee. She is the Alabama College English Teachers Association representative on the NCTE Board of Directors, and the current chair of the College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Council. Mrs. Horton still finds time to serve on numerous other university and state committees, councils, and boards. She is the faculty advisor to Sigma Tau Delta, the English honorary societies and operate the JSU Grammar Hotline. |
