I cannot use the JSU International Programs Free shuttle service, how to do I get to JSU from the Atlanta Airport?

Alternative transportation options from the Atlanta Airport to Jacksonville State University:
Students using these listed services will be responsible for payment.

* We do not accept late arrivals. Late arrivals can result in a student possibly going out of status with immigration and unable to enroll or secure a housing assignment.

International Go Orientation and Class registration

Want to register for classes, learn about different departments and get a bite to eat?

What: International Go Orientation

When: Tuesday, January 7, 2025

Where: TBA

When: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The orientation is specifically for international students and includes breakfast, lunch, free shirt and registration for classes.

Who do I contact?

If you have questions email gamecockorientation@jsu.edu or call 256-782-5045. If you send an e-mail or leave a voice mail, give your name, JSU student ID#, and indicate you are attempting to register for the international session.

Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.

1. Book your Flights

Book your flight to arrive to Atlanta from January 3-6 . Do not arrive earlier than 30 days before the start of school. As for booking your flight, we recommend arriving on Janaury 3 to have access to the free airport shuttle.


2. Housing Registration

We require housing to be secured before you arrive at JSU. Per housing policy ALL international students must apply for housing using the link below.

Over 21-Year-old:

If you are over 21 years old, you will fill out the Off-Campus Housing Application

Under 21- Years old:

If you are under 21 years old and first year in college, you will Apply and Pay your $200.00 housing deposit to live on campus. Per housing policy this is REQUIRED for students under 21 years old and in their first year in college.

You are required to have secured housing before you arrive at JSU. There are no exceptions to this policy.

3. Health Insurance

Jacksonville State University requires all international students to enroll in its university approved health coverage. No other coverage will be accepted.

  • You must provide your insurance confirmation LETTER (not the card) before you can enroll in your classes.
  • You will be required to purchase and show proof of insurance each semester (fall, spring & summer).
  • Please attach to the arrival notification.

4. Arrival

Fill out the arrival form after you have secured your airport travel to arrive by August 1 or later.

  • International students must complete the Mandatory Arrival Notification Form.
  • You will attach your insurance confirmation LETTER to this notification.
  • Please complete as soon as possible.
  • You may arrive 30 days before the program's start date, but on-campus housing will not be available until Friday, January 3, 2025.
  • Do not buy airline tickets until you have secured housing.

6. Mandatory International ONLINE Orientation

International Students will need to complete the International Online Orientation Course

  • You must have a JSU email
  • Click Enroll in Course and complete course.

I have questions on Placement Test, can you help me?

No, International programs cannot assist you with placement test questions as that is a separate department from us.

Who do I contact about placement test?

Please read the Pre-Arrival Guide for information on your JSU email, visa types, immigration process, final transcript submission, housing options, initial expenses, and academic placement tests. The guide will also help you with information on what to expect at the port of entry when you arrive in the United States, travelling to JSU, reporting to the international office, orientation, health insurance requirement, request to change program, tuition and fees, employment information, and information on disability services.

I want more scholarship money, or I did my SATs and want additional scholarship money, can you help me?

No, International programs cannot assist you with scholarships as that is a separate department from us. We cannot change the amount on your i-20, please see the JSU International Program Policies.

If you have a new SAT Score or have questions on your scholarships, please email the scholarship department at scholarships@jsu.edu or visit the Scholarship website.

Are you are new international transfer in student? (Transferring from another USA university)
If Yes, please fill out the International Student Transfer Form.

New JSU Students that have never attended JSU:

JSU International Programs Policy for initial transfer out students, Arrived in the United States on a JSU visa but will transfer out before beginning JSU.

JSU International programs requires that you physically report to Jacksonville State University before a transfer out to another school can be completed.

Steps to Complete an Initial Transfer out (Never attended JSU but arrived in the USA with a JSU student visa)

  1. Email cfconnell@jsu.edu to schedule an appointment for an IN-PERSON appointment at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL . ( No exemptions to this school policy)
  2. Go into MYJAX and fill out the reporting documents with an acceptance letter.
  3. Attend your IN-PERSON appointment
  4. After following steps 1,2, and 3 properly, the I-20 will be transferred to new school.
