Frequently Asked Questions FAQ
The International Application Deposit (IAD) of $200 was discontinued in Fall 2026. Beginning with Spring 2027 applicants, the deposit is no longer required. It was required after a F-1 international student had been admitted and before the I-20 is processed. The IAD is deposited for the term into which the F-1 student has been admitted.
This deposit will be credited to the student's account after the drop/add period of the THIRD regular semester completed at JSU. For example, a deposit made for Fall 2026 will be returned to the student after drop/add of the Fall 2027 semester.
No. There is no refund.
An F-1 student will need to show proof that the visa was denied and also not defer to the following semester. The refund process will begin AFTER the deferral deadline has passed. If a student defers to the next semester, they will not get a refund.
