Staff Compensation Study Updates
Benchmarking Feedback
The focus of the initial phase of the compensation study was to review Jax State’s structure and positions. Position descriptions and organizational charts were provided, and meetings took place with various department representatives across campus. An analysis of position descriptions, organizational charts, and salaries revealed a need to reestablish a job family framework.
A compensation philosophy will be finalized, the peer group for benchmarking determined, and new pay structure and grades developed. Finally, the market value of each job will be determined and assigned a new grade. Jax State will NOT be reimplementing pay steps.
Maybe. A new compensation structure is being developed and all positions are under review for classification with the new structure and compensation philosophy. The goal is to develop a consistent system of classification titles with position alignment to maintain career ladder.
The jobs will first be classified in a new job family framework, benchmarked with peer institutions to determine the market value range of that position, and then assigned to the pay grade with the midpoint most closely aligned with the market value median.
5. Will staff receive pay raises for the 2024 - 2025 fiscal year?
The new compensation structure will be implemented effective October 1 (November paycheck). The amount of salary changes are still being determined.
