Professional and Licensure Exams

Professional and licensure exams assess and certify individuals' qualifications and skills required for specific careers or regulated activities. They ensure competency, comply with industry regulations, support career advancement, and provide a standardized measure of qualifications. These exams help maintain professional standards and ensure that individuals are properly prepared for their roles.

Testing Services provides the ACT WorkKeys assessments to community members, which are often required by employers, educational institutions, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agencies. Also known as the Basic Abilities Test (BAT), this assessment includes three components: Graphic Literacy, Applied Math, and Workplace Documents. We recommend checking with your prospective employer to determine which specific tests they require.

Each assessment consists of approximately 35-40 multiple-choice questions and is allocated 55 minutes. The cost is $25 per subject, payable in advance. To schedule your appointment, please contact us by phone or email us at testingservices@jsu.edu. Note that all fees must be paid at the time of registration; we do not accept cash. Once your appointment is confirmed, we will send you a link to pay the proctor fees online.

Identification must be an original, current ID issued by a city/state/federal government agency or your school. School ID must be in hard plastic card format. Paper or electronic formats are NOT acceptable.

Law enforcement applicants, please visit the APOSTC FAQ webpage to review the testing requirements.

For information about test content and preparation, please visit the ACT WorkKeys website. Practice tests are also available on the WorkKeys Practice tests website.
