Michael Wetherholt
Dr. Michael S. Wetherholt, Senior Director of the JSU Office of Sponsored Programs, has been in the sponsored programs field for about thirty (30) years. He is an experienced grant proposal writer and has several large federal grants to his credit. Such awards include a $2,388,000 grant award from the U.S. Department of Labor, a $3,000,000 grant award from the U.S. Department of Education, and two grant awards from the National Science Foundation for $3,750,000 and $1,500,000. He has worked in sponsored programs offices at Morehead State University (Morehead, KY); Murray State University (Murray, KY); Columbus State University (Columbus, GA); and Jacksonville State University. Dr. Wetherholt holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Electronics Technology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Marshall University (Huntington, WV). He also holds an MBA from Morehead State University, and a PhD in Higher Education Leadership from Indiana State University (Terre Haute, IN). Dr. Wetherholt is well experienced in and enjoys assisting faculty and professional staff in grant guideline interpretation, idea development, grant proposal narrative development, budget creation, electronic research administration, community grant project development and grant proposal development in the pursuit of federal awards. He has also served as a peer reviewer for over twenty-four (24) years for several agencies of the federal government. He enjoys reading, attending his Orthodox Christian church, assisting communities and schools and reading works about Sherlock Holmes. Dr. Wetherholt lives with his wife, Joyce of 36 years and has three children Alexander, Shannon, and Brandon and a daughter-in-law Sarah.
