Pathways to Jax MIX Microcredentials

Jax MIX is the nation’s first general education program that includes pathways to microcredentials. A microcredential is an academic achievement that verifies you have specific competencies and skills. It takes less time to complete and is more focused than a major and minor.

The image below provides you with a pathway to earn a Jax MIX microcredential. You can start a Jax MIX microcredential pathway by attending approved events or completing Jax MIX courses in the focuses.

You can review your progress to earning Jax MIX microcredentials, visit your Credentials account. Your academic advisor can also provide you with more information about obtaining these microcredentials.

Using Canvas Credentials

Jax MIX is the university's general education program. It includes the requirements set by the state and your major for graduation. The program also has optional pathways to earn Jax MIX microcredentials.  A focus consists of three Jax MIX courses. It's your first step to one of five Jax MIX microcredentials. You can simultaneously complete your state requirements, major, and focus through deliberately selecting courses.  Attending three events that correspond to your Jax MIX microcredential brings your coursework to life. You can complete this over multiple semesters.  A MIX work product is a course assignment, extracurricular activity, or approved project aligned with your Jax MIX microcredential.  In the MIX Course, you submit your event attendance and work product. The course culminates with a reflection essay. Upon successful completion, you earn your Jax MIX microcredential.

  • You will investigate the importance of diverse human identities and conditions.
  • You will synthesize multiple forms of analysis to understand the historical development of cultures worldwide.

  • You will identify credible sources.
  • You will recognize misinformation.
  • You will navigate responsible consumption of a variety of resources, references, and media.
