Khadeidra Billingsley (she/her)

Writing Center Director

Dr. Khadeidra Billingsley (affectionately known as Dr. K) joined the English department in fall of 2022. Prior to her time at JSU, she completed her Ph.D. at The University of Alabama where she served as an Academic Advisor/Success Coach and Assistant Director of the Writing Center. Over the course of her career, she has earned several teaching awards including the 2020 Early Career Educator of Color fellowship from the National Council of Teachers of English. Her research interests include composition pedagogy, writing assessment, and writing center studies. Dr. K's current work focuses on fostering collaboration between high school and college writing instructors with the goal of making students' transition to college-level writing smoother. Her scholarship has been published in College English, Kairos, and several edited collections.

Jasmina Alvardo Ruiz

Jasmina is an Undergraduate International student pursuing a degree in Spanish and a minor in Secondary Education. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and serving at church.

Ramsey Shelton 

Ramsey is currently an Information Systems Management major. This is his sophomore year at JSU and first year working at the Writing Center. In his free time, he enjoys music production, playing videogames, and travelling.

Maci Barnwell

Maci is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Arts in English. She graduated from JSU with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in creative writing in December of 2025. In her free time, she enjoys reading and writing, watching horror movies, and thrifting vintage clothing.

Olivia Brothers (she/her)

Olivia is a senior pursuing a degree in Secondary Education. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

Emma Cotton

Emma is a graduate student from Boaz, Alabama. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English. In her free time, she enjoys reading books, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.

Katelyn Dunn

Katelyn is a graduate student from Steele, Alabama. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in English and has a Bachelor of Arts in English - Literature. Katelyn hopes to encourage confidence and pride in all students' writing, for she too believes that "words and ideas can change the world" (John Keating, Dead Poets Society). In her free time, she enjoys reading fantasy, classic, or medieval literature, baking sweet treats, attending her local church, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Naum Kibiwott (she/her)

Naum is a dedicated nursing student and member of the Jax State cross country team, balancing academics, and sports with a passion for reading. As a driven individual, they bring a unique perspective to their work. Naum is excited to contribute to the Writing Center team and support peers in achieving their writing goals.

Joy Lawrence (she/her)

Joy is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Nursing. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, trying new things, and seeking out new experiences. She looks forward to helping students develop their writing and become more confident in their work.

Allie Meadows (she/her)

Allie is a Senior pursuing a degree in English Lit. Allie is detail oriented. She enjoys assisting others and helping them build confidence in their writing abilities. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her boyfriend. After her graduation here at JSU, she plans to attend the University of Alabama online, where she will receive a master's degree in library science at the college level.

Elisabeth Rea (she/her)

Elisabeth is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in English-Professional Writing. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano, attending Jax State sporting events, and reading Shakespeare.

Grace Shelton

Grace is a graduate student pursuing her master's in social work. In her free time, she enjoys singing and reading. She is a member of Civic Chorale.

Devynn Standridge (she/her)

Devynn received her B.A. in English - Creative Writing from Jax State and is currently working towards her M.A. in English. Besides working at the Writing Center, Devynn is also a member of the Marching Southerners. She dances with the Marching Ballerinas and has a great time doing it. When her work is finished, Devynn enjoys working out, reading novels, and watching trashy reality TV.

Will Cooper (he/him)

William is a graduate student from Collinsville, Alabama. His undergraduate was in English, and he is looking to get a Master's in Education. He enjoys video games, running, and golfing.

Kenley holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her goal is to help each student feel confident in their work by providing the tools, support, and encouragement they need to succeed.

Haley Munn

My major is Psychology and I am minoring in Biology. I am in my last semester of my senior year and will be graduating this Fall. I love to read in my free time the most but also enjoy movies/shows, writing, and organizing.

Mackenzie Tolbert (she/her)

Mackenzie is a graduate student pursuing her Master’s of Arts in English. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Jacksonville State. She loves all things Jane Austen, reading, writing, and her tuxedo cat named Atlas.
