Khadeidra Billingsley (she/her)

Writing Center Director

Dr. Khadeidra Billingsley (affectionately known as Dr. K) joined the English department in fall of 2022. Prior to her time at JSU, she completed her Ph.D. at The University of Alabama where she served as an Academic Advisor/Success Coach and Assistant Director of the Writing Center. Over the course of her career, she has earned several teaching awards including the 2020 Early Career Educator of Color fellowship from the National Council of Teachers of English. Her research interests include composition pedagogy, writing assessment, and writing center studies. Dr. K's current work focuses on fostering collaboration between high school and college writing instructors with the goal of making students' transition to college-level writing smoother. Her scholarship has been published in College English, Kairos, and several edited collections.

Amy Bennett (she/her)

Interim Writing Center Director

Amy Bennett is a graduate student pursuing her Masters in Integrated Studies. She is also a freelance writer and author, having published numerous works of poetry as well as a children’s book. She is currently on her first novel.

Christian Thomas (he/him)

Christian is a graduate history student from Oxford, Alabama. He is working on his Master’s degree in History. Throughout his tenure here at Jax State, Christian has been involved in student organization across campus. In his free time, he enjoys reading and writing, watching movies and sports, and listening to podcasts.

Jasmina Alvardo Ruiz

Jasmina is an undergraduate international student pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and serving at church.

Olivia Brothers (she/her)

Olivia is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Secondary English Education.

Lauren Chaffin (she/her)

Lauren is a transfer student from Snead State Community College pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, shopping, and hanging out with friends and family.

Naum Kibiwott (she/her)

Naum is a dedicated nursing student and member of the Jax State cross country team, balancing academics, and sports with a passion for reading. As a driven individual, they bring a unique perspective to their work. Naum is excited to contribute to the Writing Center team and support peers in achieving their writing goals.

Madison Konopka (she/her)

Madison is an incoming senior with fours years of tutor experience. She is a student athlete and plays on Jax State's Women's Volleyball team. Although sports is a big part of her life, she is excited to be involved academically as a tutor.

Joy Lawrence (she/her)

Joy is a 2nd semester nursing student at JSU. She is from Lagos, Nigeria. When she is less busy, she loves to watch movies, eat, and try out new things.

Allie Meadows (she/her)

Allie is detail oriented. She likes assisting others + building confidence in their abilities.

Elisabeth Rea (she/her)

Elisabeth is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in English-Professional Writing. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano, attending Jax State sporting events, and reading Shakespeare.

Jaylee Sims (she/her)

Jaylee is a senior pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a focus in English Language Arts. She graduated from Douglas High School and then from Snead State Community College with an associate's degree. When she is not tutoring or teaching, she enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Devynn Strandridge (she/her)

Devynn is a senior pursuing a degree in English-Creative Writing. Devynn. Has been involved in many student organizations, including the Marching Southerners. She loves reading, baking, and having a good time.

Belle Warrington (she/her)

Belle is a graduate student at Jacksonville State University, pursuing her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She acquired her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at Jacksonville State University in 2024. During her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading, and spending time in nature.

Matthew Allcorn (he/him)

Matthew is a graduate student from Cleveland, Alabama. He is working on a history degree so he can become a teacher. In his free time, Matthew enjoys playing basketball, watching movies, and spending time with family.

Will Cooper (he/him)

William is a graduate student from Collinsville, Alabama. His undergraduate was in English, and he is looking to get a Master's in Education. He enjoys video games, running, and golfing.

Zoe Chuang (she/her)

Zoe Chuang is a graduate student at JSU pursuing her Master of Arts in English. She enjoys trivia, video essays, and all things creative writing.

Kyleigh DeLibero (she/her)

Kyleigh DeLibero is a graduate student pursuing a general MBA, and she has a bachelor's in business management. Throughout her undergraduate career, she was extremely involved and served as a peer mentor for SSC 101. She is also a first-generation college student. Ultimately, she would like to pursue a career in corporate litigation as a practicing attorney. She specializes in persuasive and argumentative writing, APA style. However, she also enjoys research and legal-based writing assignments and/or case studies as well.

Kenley Elrod (she/her)

Kenley holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her goal is to help each student feel confident in their work by providing the tools, support, and encouragement they need to succeed.

Elise Heald (she/her)

Elise is a graduate student in pursuit of her Master of Arts in English. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from JSU. In her free time, she enjoys reading, creative writing, listening to music, and watching films.

Isaac Krueger (he/him)

Isaac is a graduate student majoring in English. He has a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in creative writing and loves poetry and fiction. Isaac believes that it's possible to make all writing fun and hopes to give all writers a sense of confidence in their writing. In his free time, he likes to play video games, research random topics that spark his interest, and brainstorm new writing ideas.

Mackenzie Tolbert (she/her)

Mackenzie is a graduate student pursuing her Master’s of Arts in English. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Jacksonville State. She loves all things Jane Austen, reading, writing, and her tuxedo cat named Atlas.

Laura Wind (she/her)

Laura is excited to be working as a writing mentor. She is currently enrolled in the Master’s program in Mental Health Counseling. She has an undergraduate degree in Music from JSU and a Master’s of Science in education from JSU with a concentration in English.
