Dr. Khadeidra Billingsley (affectionately known as Dr. K) joined the English department in fall of 2022. Prior to her time at JSU, she completed her Ph.D. at The University of Alabama where she served as an Academic Advisor/Success Coach and Assistant Director of the Writing Center. Over the course of her career, she has earned several teaching awards including the 2020 Early Career Educator of Color fellowship from the National Council of Teachers of English. Her research interests include composition pedagogy, writing assessment, and writing center studies. Dr. K's current work focuses on fostering collaboration between high school and college writing instructors with the goal of making students' transition to college-level writing smoother. Her scholarship has been published in College English, Kairos, and several edited collections. Dr. K is obsessed with true crime, reality television, and her fur baby, Brady Lee Billingsley-Cooke.
