Antigua, Guatemala – Led by Dr. Danyel Munster
Program Dates: May 20th – May 29th, 2026
This study abroad nursing course offers students an immersive global health experience in and around Antigua, Guatemala, through participation in community-based healthcare campaigns led by Maximo Nivel. These mobile clinics, supervised by licensed local medical professionals, provide essential services to underserved populations in rural communities. Students will actively participate in rotating clinic “stations” that may include areas such as diet and nutrition counseling, dental and hygiene education, medicine distribution, and basic medical consultations. In addition to clinical engagement, students will gain exposure to Guatemalan culture, healthcare systems, and social determinants of health through structured cultural immersion experiences and guided reflections. This course emphasizes hands-on learning, cultural competence, and professional growth, preparing nursing students to provide compassionate, equitable care in diverse and resource limited settings.
