Field Education Admission
What do you do after meeting the requirements for Field Education?
- During the semester before the Field Semester (your last semester)submit an Application for Field Placement
- Eligible Students are notified of a mandatory initial informational meeting about Field Placement which is held during the semester before the Field Placement experience.
- Students are given an Application for Degree and information regarding the following: Graduating Senior Survey (GSS) which is completed online through the JSU Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, the BSW Assessment and Exit Interview Surveys, University EPP Exam, and graduation.
- Students complete and return all required forms for Field Placement and degree to the Field Coordinator.
- Students schedule an individual meeting with BSW Program Field Coordinator.
- As part of this assessment, students must disclose all relevant ethical violations or legal convictions before the pre-placement process can begin.
- Obtain student membership in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) (Information is included in the Field Instruction Application Packet provided to all prospective Field education students during the informational meeting.)
- Obtain Student Professional Liability Insurance from NASW Assurance Services prior to the start date of field placement.
- Formal planning for Field Placement proceeds with students having no identified deficiencies.
- Complete degree requirements (final semester-SW 448, 449, and 450 = 15 hours). (Total minimum hours for graduation = 120).
- Dean's office certifies the student for graduation.
