The new Jax State Swim Club, housed within the Sport Clubs program in the JSU Rec Center, will host its first ever swim meet on Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Anniston Aquatic and Fitness Center. The event is free and open to the public.

"This is really big for us as a club," said Perry Luzier, its founding president. "I am confident that this will be a positive experience for everyone involved."

On Saturday, 43 swimmers representing six universities will compete. In addition to Jax State - which has a meet roster of 10 athletes - teams will include the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, University of North Alabama, Tennessee Technical University and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Students interested in getting involved in the swim club are invited to attend practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the Rec Center.
