JSU Presents Veterans Week 2017
11/03/2017
At Jacksonville State, one day isn’t enough to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s veterans. In fact, the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Support is presenting an entire week of activities to recognize those who have served or are serving in our nation’s military on Nov. 13-17. Here’s how you can get involved:
Sign the Salute to Service Flag: Stop by the veterans center in Daugette Hall all month to share the names of loved ones who have served or are serving in the military by writing their names on the Service Flag.
Share Stories of Service: Are you a military veteran? The JSU Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Support wants to hear your experiences! Provide a short summary of your service and a military photo to the center via email at veterans@jsu.edu.
Veterans Celebration – Enjoy food and games at this festive event on Nov. 9, 1-5 p.m., on the Quad.
Veterans Day Ceremony – JSU and the City of Jacksonville will present the area’s third annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 13, 10 a.m., at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Speakers will include Col. Joel Warhurst, commander of the Anniston Army Depot. Following the ceremony, the newly renovated Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Support will be open for tours at Daugette Hall.
For more information on any of these events, contact the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Support at 256-782-8838 or veterans@jsu.edu.
