Student Clubs and Honor Societies

IEEE Student Branch

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest professional organization advancing innovation in engineering, computing, and related technologies. Becoming an IEEE Student or Graduate Student Member reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and future career success. Full-time students in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program within an IEEE-designated field — including Computer Science/IT, Engineering, the physical/biological/mathematical sciences, or technology-focused areas such as communication, education, management, or policy — are eligible for student membership for up to eight years. As an IEEE Student Member, you join a global network of more than 500,000 professionals and innovators. Membership provides access to leading technical resources like the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, participation in conferences and competitions, engagement in standards initiatives, and valuable mentorship and networking opportunities.

To get started, apply online through the IEEE Membership Application. After your membership is approved, please email your name and IEEE Member Number to the student branch advisor, Dr. Arup Ghosh, at akghosh@jsu.edu. If you need a referral for your application, you may request Dr. Ghosh’s IEEE membership number.
