Who can apply?
Students who are children or spouses of eligible Alabama veterans and who attend public postsecondary educational institutions in Alabama. Must enroll as an undergraduate student.

An award to be used for tuition and educational fees for Alabama National Guard members to attend a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama. The award Is based on financial need. This award is for students who are active members in good standing with a federally-recognized unit of the Alabama National Guard. 

Who can apply?
Students who are active members in good standing with a federally-recognized unit of the Alabama National Guard. Participants also may receive federal veterans benefits, but must show a cost less aid amount of at least $100. 

How do I apply?
Applications are available from Alabama National Guard units. Funds are limited, so students who are Guard members are encouraged to apply early. Forms must be signed by a representative of the Alabama Military Department and the financial aid officer at the college or university the student plans to attend.

For bachelor's and lesser degrees, $400,000 has been allocated to provide educational assistance to soldiers by priority. Those National Guard service members will receive a maximum of $55.00 per credit hour up to $1,250 per fiscal year.

Who can apply?
National Guard service member in Priority 1 category in pay grade E-1 through E-6 with less than 6 years service. Priority 2 is all other National Guard service members.

Need-based, State / Federal grant ranging from $300 to $2,500 per academic year. Awards are limited to undergraduate work. Who can apply?  Undergraduate students who are Alabama residents attending eligible Alabama institutions. Nearly 80 Alabama institutions participate in the program.

How do I apply?
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form should be filed early; it is available from your high school guidance office, the financial aid office at the institution you plan to attend, or online.

VRS works to assist students with disabilities in receiving appropriate educational opportunities.

Who can apply?
To be eligible for VRS services, individuals must have a physical or mental impairment that is a substantial impediment receiving appropriate educational opportunities.
