BFA Illustration

The BFA program in Illustration integrates both traditional and digital studio art practices to develop a thorough, industry-relevant, competitive portfolio for the aspiring illustrator. Foundational drawing and painting studio skills in conjunction with digital software applications create a rich spectrum of image-making experiences that all build the illustration student’s technical vocabulary.

Visual storytelling, conceptualization, and problem solving through image design serve as the content core of our illustration program. Students learn a variety of technical and professional development skills needed for industry preparedness.

Illustration students pursue careers as commercial and editorial illustrators, concept and storyboard artists, book illustrators, animators, and more. Alternatively, students with a BFA in illustration are prepared for continued study on an MFA graduate level.

Both our Illustration and Graphic Design concentrations complement each other through shared commercial applications in the professional field.
