Cara Archer – South Korea Summer 2024

Cara ArcherStudying abroad in South Korea was the most impactful thing I have done. From navigating new areas by myself to conquering language barriers, every moment was challenging yet rewarding. My problem-solving skills were tested often. I learned so much about South Korea and I feel my language skills have improved. I feel it was a self-discovery journey because I have never been away from my family. This was an amazing opportunity to get to know myself and how I navigate the world.

The most memorable moment was Lotte World. I have never been to an amusement park like that before. It is very different from Six Flags. The part I liked the most was after spending the day at the park, many of the buddies invited us to go to dinner. We ate delicious food, got to know each other, and learned some Korean drinking games. This was very special to me because of all the new friends I made that night.

I made many Korean as well as a few Japanese and American friends. My buddy, Minseon, and I got along very well; We liked the same music, video games, and food! She made the trip very special by always taking me to see things I wanted to go do and some things I would not have known about. All the buddies in the buddy program were very welcoming and willing to help us practice Korean.
