Faculty Mentors

Sociology students are assigned to a faculty mentor after declaring the major.

Students are required to meet with their faculty mentor at least once in the semester following their assignment to a mentor and then encouraged to meet with them at least annually before midterm in the Fall Semester to review their progress in the program and to discuss their professional goals and post-graduation plans.

Faculty mentors will review and document with the student their progress in the program and make suggestions regarding appropriate electives and/or micro-credentials to help the student prepare for their professional future.

Faculty mentors will facilitate discussion on graduate school and/or career opportunities and potential contacts. 

Students are encouraged to work closely with their faculty mentor to plan a course of study to assist them in meeting their professional goals.
