Scholarships
Scholarships open the door to possibilities for students at Jax State. Scholarships allow students to stand on the shoulders of the university to be able to reach their dreams. Giving to scholarships solidifies the leaders of tomorrow.
There are two types of scholarships: endowed scholarships and annual scholarships. They work like this:
- Endowed Scholarships – Endowed scholarships live on in perpetuity. At Jax State, endowed scholarships start at $25,000, which can be paid all at once, or by making a pledge to pay that amount over a five-year period. A set amount of earnings is paid out each year to the scholarship recipient, leaving the original amount untouched so that it can continue to produce earnings.
- Annual Scholarships – Annual scholarships are awarded each year donations are made to the scholarship. The amount donated can be the amount awarded. If no donation is made for a particular year, the scholarship will not be awarded. Annual scholarships can be named beginning at $2,500.
- Jax State Endowed Scholarship Fund – Donations made to the Jax State Endowed Scholarship Fund help sustain an endowed scholarship fund used to make sure students are able to finish their degree. These funds help students that may not otherwise be able to finish their degree due to financial hardships. The funds are awarded based on financial need.
Endowed Professorships ($250,000) and Endowed Chairs ($500,000)
- Endowed professorships and endowed chairs are both crucial for recruiting and retaining the highest-quality faculty. Building a strong base of faculty talent enriches the academic environment, which attracts the brightest students. These endowed positions support faculty already performing at a high level, enabling them to make even more significant contributions to the college and to their respective fields. Distinguished faculty committed to excellence in teaching, research, and public service stimulate students and strengthen the Jax State experience. The funds generated by endowed professorships and endowed chairs are available to faculty members to advance their instructional programs, to develop new research ideas, to fund students’ work and to make innovative advances in their own portfolios of scholarly work.
Namesake Colleges ($15,000,000) and Departments ($1,000,000)
- Funds generated by namesake college and namesake department funding are available to support the enhancement and innovation of that specific college or department, professional development for deserving faculty members and students, developing new research ideas and other areas of financial support needed to improve the overall quality of the college or department. Namesake colleges and departments are crucial for recruiting and retaining the highest-quality faculty. Building a strong base of faculty talent enriches the academic environment, which attracts the brightest students.
