Officer Update
The Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy will present an Officer Update Course. The tuition for the course includes all handout materials and refreshments. The course will begin at the Academy at 8:00 am.
This course is designed to fulfill the officer's required 12 hours of C.E.U.s (as mandated by the APOSTC) while providing the officer with the latest, most updated and pertinent information related to legal issues, officer survival, firearms training, and other vital information. Officers will also be given an opportunity to shoot their annual firearms re-qualification course as mandated by APOSTC.
Some of the tentative subjects that will be covered during this course include:
- The latest legal information including state laws and state and federal court decisions
- Traffic stops
- Officer survival
- Point/combat shooting
Each student will need to bring the following items for the 2nd day of training:
- Duty handgun (no single-action only weapons allowed) with reloading devices
- Duty leather gear (no cross draw holsters or shoulder rigs)
- 250 rounds of duty ammunition
- Appropriate range wear including cap with bill, eye protection and ear protection
- Appropriate inclement weather gear
This cost of this course is $95.00.
We must have your registration form to guarantee your seat in the course. Registration deadline is 1 week prior to course date. If for some reason, you are unable to attend the course we must be informed of your cancellation by fax, e-mail, or letter. This must be done by the last business day before the class starts. Otherwise you will be invoiced half of the course tuition fee.
