Engage & Elevate: A Faculty Learning Series
Engage & Elevate is a faculty learning series designed to support innovative, high-impact teaching practices that strengthen student learning and success. With experiential learning at its core, the series provides practical strategies, resources, and opportunities for faculty to connect classroom learning with meaningful application, reflection, and real-world experiences.
Sessions will explore experiential learning, high-impact practices, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and other approaches that help faculty create engaging and impactful experiences for students.
The Engage & Elevate Faculty Learning Series seeks to:
- Promote high-impact teaching practices
- Strengthen connections between learning and real-world application
- Support intentional course and experience design
- Encourage continued growth and innovation in teaching
- Advance a culture of scholarly teaching
Fall 2026 Engage & Elevate Sessions
Session: Designing Effective Work-Based Learning Experiences
Date: Thursday, October 15
Time: 2:30-3:30
Location: 208 Self Hall
Description: How can we make work-based learning more than simply an experience? This session will explore strategies for designing meaningful work-based learning opportunities that intentionally connect academic learning with real-world application. Faculty will consider ways to incorporate clear learning outcomes, reflection, and assessment to help students make connections between what they are learning and how they apply that learning beyond the classroom.

Session: Leveraging High-Impact Learning for Student Success: An Information Session on Jax State of Teaching's High-Impact Learning Institute (HIL Institute)

Description: Interested in incorporating more high-impact learning experiences into your teaching? This session will explore the role of high-impact learning in supporting student engagement and success while introducing faculty to Jax State of Teaching's High-Impact Learning Institute (HIL Institute).
Faculty will learn more about the Institute, the types of high-impact learning experiences it will support, and how they can become involved.

Session: Scholar of Teaching & Learning Designation: Information Session

Description: Jax State faculty will soon have a new opportunity to be recognized for their continued commitment to teaching excellence through the Scholar of Teaching & Learning designation.
Join us for this virtual information session to learn about the newly adopted designation, the three phases of participation faculty will complete to earn the distinction, and how to get started. We’ll walk through the requirements, participation process, and available support and answer questions from faculty interested in pursuing the designation.
Additional information, including the session date and registration, will be announced once program is finalized.

Registration is encouraged for all professional development sessions but is not required to attend. However, pre-registration is required for any session that includes lunch. Faculty are always welcome to attend without registering, but lunch is only provided for those who have pre-registered.
