HIPS Faculty Learning Community : Spring 2025
Program Description and Goals
The Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on High-Impact Practices (HIPs) in General Education is a unique, application-based opportunity for faculty committed to enhancing student engagement and success. Participants will explore innovative strategies to integrate and sustain HIPs within general education courses through a structured, six-session program.
Spring meetings will cover key topics, including the foundations and benefits of HIPs, their application in writing-intensive courses, collaborative assignments, undergraduate research, diversity and global learning, service learning, and ePortfolios. Faculty will collaborate to define a GenEd HIP taxonomy for Jacksonville State University and develop assessment strategies to ensure lasting impact.
This closed cohort is designed to foster deep learning, meaningful dialogue, and actionable outcomes. Participants will leave equipped with the tools and knowledge to enrich their courses and contribute to a dynamic general education program at Jax State.
