Engage Jax State Experiential Learning Series: Spring 2025

Program Description and Goals

This series will highlight Jax State's growing Experiential Learning program and how it aims to enhance the student experience in preparation for career success. 

  • Introduce Experiential Learning: To familiarize faculty with the concept of experiential learning projects and their role in higher education. 
  • Highlight the Importance of Experiential Learning: To emphasize how integrating experiential learning into the curriculum enhances student engagement, critical thinking, and academic success. 
  • Connect to High-Impact Practices: To help faculty understand how experiential learning projects align with high-impact practices and contribute to student development. 
  • Provide Practical Implementation Strategies: To equip faculty with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to effectively implement experiential learning projects in their courses

Title: HIPS and Experiential Learning: Where They Intersect and Why It Matters for Educators 

 
Description: Join us as we discuss the distinctions and intersections between High-Impact Practices and Experiential Learning. This session will equip faculty with the knowledge and vocabulary needed to effectively communicate these concepts to colleagues, parents, and the public. Additionally, presenters will share the plans for Jax State's growing Experiential Learning program, highlighting how it aims to enhance the student experience and prepare them for success in their careers. Our goal is to make experiential learning a central component of the academic journey at Jax State, both for students and faculty.

Description: Are you curious about the types of Experiential Learning (EL) courses offered at Jacksonville State University? There’s more than you might expect! Join us for an engaging panel discussion featuring faculty members who are already integrating EL into their courses.

This session will provide insights into course development, strategies for implementing experiential learning, and practical ideas for incorporating EL into both existing and new courses. Whether you're looking to enrich your current teaching approach or start something fresh, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable perspectives and inspiration from colleagues already pioneering EL at JSU.
