Educator Empowerment: Workshops for OER Adoption and Student Engagement: Fall 2024
Program Description and Goals
Join the Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 Presidential Fellow OER Adoption/Creation Program, which offers four workshops designed to guide faculty through selecting and integrating OER into course materials.
- To increase access to quality educational materials by removing financial, geographic, and other barriers to education.
- To reduce the cost of education by providing free or low-cost educational resources that can be used to replace expensive textbooks.
- To allow instructors to tailor educational materials to meet the specific needs of their courses and students.
- To encourage the sharing of educational resources among instructors, institutions, and students, fostering a collaborative approach to learning and teaching.
- To promote the development of new and innovative teaching and learning practices by leveraging the flexibility and adaptability of OER.
- To enhance teaching and learning by providing access to a wide range of high-quality educational resources, including multimedia materials, simulations, and interactive tools.
- To promote the long-term sustainability of higher education by reducing the financial burden on students and institutions and supporting the development of a more open and inclusive educational ecosystem.

Educator Empowerment: Workshop for Adoption and Creation of OER Kickoff Drop by anytime from 12:00-1:30 to learn about this exciting compensated OER series, led by the 2024-2025 OER Presidential Faculty Fellow. This program is designed to help you adopt or create OER for use in Spring 2025. Participants will attend four workshops in Fall 2024, focusing on selecting and adopting OER texts. During these workshops, you will edit assignments, create content, and structure syllabi in preparation for implementing OER in one section of your course. Eight faculty members will be chosen to adopt an OER text and will receive a $500 stipend. Two faculty members will be chosen to create and adopt OR adopt for a sequence of courses an OER, earning a $1,500 stipend, awarded (Fall 2024) upon completion of the workshops and agreement of adoption for Spring 2025. Those who participate in this compensated series will meet with Dr. Sciuchetti to discuss program details. Participating faculty are required to attend 4 sessions in Fall 2024.
