Jesse Groover joined Jacksonville State University's English department in 2020. He teaches a variety of courses including Composition, Speech, and American Literature. His approach in his courses centers around identity and multi-disciplinary applications of writing and communication. His primary areas of academic interest are Creative Writing as well as 17th and 19th century British literature. His current research focus is on the portrayal of Satan in fiction, particularly the influence of John Milton's seminal characterization. He was the recipient of the Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award from Jacksonville's College of Arts and Humanities in the 2023-2024 school year and earned a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from The Derek Bok Center of Teaching and Learning at Harvard University in 2025. In his spare time, he engages in creative writing and composes music.
