Praxis Vouchers
The College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) fees cover the first test attempt for each required Praxis assessment. Each department will contact teacher candidates about ordering and issuing Praxis voucher codes. Once issued, test voucher codes are the responsibility of the teacher candidate. Teacher candidates will register themselves with ETS using the issued voucher codes for the appropriate assessment.
If the first attempt does not result in a passing score, the teacher candidate is responsible for the cost of any retakes. If a student must retake due to a non-passing score, ETS Praxis fee waivers may be available for college students who meet all eligibility criteria. If you qualify for a fee waiver, the test fee for one Praxis Subject Assessment may be waived by ETS. Students are eligible for a fee waiver only once during a testing year, and there are a limited number of waivers available per test date and per institution. All requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis by ETS.
Alabama Foundations of Reading
Alabama Foundations of Reading Information
The Alabama State Board of Education has approved Foundations of Reading 190 as the foundational reading assessment required for certification in Elementary Education (K–6), Early Childhood Education (P–3), and Collaborative Special Education (K-6).
edTPA
The edTPA is the required pedagogical assessment for initial certification in those teaching fields for which an edTPA handbook has been developed. For areas where an edTPA handbook has not been developed, the Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) is the required pedagogical assessment. Neither edTPA nor PLT will be required if the individual holds a valid Alabama professional educator certificate in a teaching field.
ETS Proficiency Profile (EPP) or Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+)
One of these assessments must be completed to meet undergraduate graduation requirements.
