Mandatory Mask Policy
The purpose of this message is to inform you that effective May 10th, masking on campus is no longer mandatory. That said, the decision to wear a protective mask or face covering on campus will be a personal decision. We do encourage our employees and students to practice sound measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The single most effective measure you can take is to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. There are several safe and effective vaccines available to persons 16 years of age and older. Vaccine appointments are available to schedule through the RMC/JSU Health Center. Vaccines are also readily available at pharmacies and medical clinics throughout Alabama.
If you feel ill, rapid testing for COVID-19 is still available to active students and employees at the Health Center. The Self-Reporting Form remains on JSU’s COVID-19 webpage. If you test positive for COVID-19, a contact tracer will be assigned to your case.
In summary, JSU Temporary Policy I:02:03, COVID-19 Health and Safety, has been rescinded. Masking on JSU properties is now voluntary, but encouraged, until further notice.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Ryan
