Mask Requirement Update- February 10, 2022

Dear Fellow Gamecocks,

As promised - given the marked decrease in COVID-19 cases on our campus and in the area, the decrease in local hospitalizations, and the state reporting less deaths from COVID-19 - the university will again ease its face-covering requirement beginning on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

Masks will continue to be required in the following settings:

  • In the RMC/JSU Health Center
  • On campus sanctioned transportation
  • When preparing or serving food

In classrooms, as well as advising sessions, mask requirements will be at the faculty's discretion. Masks are still recommended in all other indoor spaces and all members of the campus community are encouraged to practice personal responsibility in keeping themselves and fellow Gamecocks safe.

Our COVID-19 Task Force continues to support the institution with resources and contact tracing efforts. For links to the positive Self Reporting Form, exposure protocols and FAQs, please visit jsu.edu/coronavirus. JSU continuously monitors the conditions on our campus and in our region. Our mitigation measures will continue to be reevaluated accordingly and may be adjusted again as necessary.

Thank you for helping us keep our campus community safe.

In Service,

Michael Barton
Director of Public Safety and COVID Task Force Leader
