Ms. LaShana Sorrell
LaShana Sorrell is currently the Director of Brand Engagement at Vulcan Park & Museum in Birmingham. Originally from Mississippi, LaShana is a results-oriented, high-energy, hands-on public relations and marketing professional with a successful fifteen-year record of accomplishments in hospitality management, higher education, food service, healthcare communications and police media industries.
LaShana’s experience prior to Vulcan Park & Museum includes working for Aramark as the District Marketing Manager for The University of Alabama and Alabama A&M University. In her six years with Aramark she has executed marketing initiatives at seven colleges and universities across the south. LaShana has also served as an adjunct professor at The University of Alabama Department of Advertisement and Public Relations. She brings knowledge and experience in creating and directing community events, developing strategic communication/marketing programs and supporting sales growth initiatives.
Previously, LaShana has served as spokesperson for the Hattiesburg Police Department and as the Social Marketing/Cultural & Linguistic Competence Coordinator for Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism (News Editorial) and a Master of Science degree in Public Relations, both from The University of Southern Mississippi; and a MBA from American InterContinental University. LaShana is a Certified Nonprofit Professional through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. LaShana’s specialization is market segmentation, brand management, event management and public relations.
When LaShana is not working, she is active in her community serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, Vice-President for the Public Relations Society of America Alabama Chapter, Vice-President for Executive Women International Birmingham Chapter, and involved in several ministries at Woodland Park Church of Christ. In her spare time, LaShana enjoys shopping, traveling, musicals and spending time with family, friends and daughter discovering local, good eats.
