What is a Microcredential?
The Department of Applied Engineering currently offers the following microcredential:
- Industrial Leadership Microcredential
A microcredential is an undergraduate short-term program between 6-9 credit hours. Microcredentials allow participants to learn skills and concepts relevant to today's workforce needs. These small programs specifically equip professionals with the skills to make their businesses more competitive in today's global marketplace.
Industrial Leadership Microcredential
This program is for individuals employed in the manufacturing workforce. Students will learn to demonstrate best workplace supervision and leadership practices, manage and motivate employees, develop teams, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively.
Program Details
Courses are delivered 100% online and asynchronous (no required meeting times) for flexibility
Courses are taught by full-time faculty members at JSU using the Canvas platform
Required Courses
Students must take AE 305, AE 405, and AE 407 to complete the microcredential. AE 305 is the prerequisite for AE 405 and AE 407. All courses must be passed with a grade of C or better.

How to Enroll
Apply
- Submit an application to JSU as a Non-Degree Seeking student
- Send in the required documents (transcripts, etc.) for admission
Complete Form
- Upon admission, complete the Microcredential Request Form
Enroll and Pay
- Contact your academic advisor to be cleared for registration.
- Register for class(es)
- Pay before the deadline
