Jasmine George Amiker is a dynamic entrepreneur, creative visionary, and community leader in Atlanta, GA. She is the proud owner of The A-Team Event Rentals & Decor. Her work is defined by innovation, excellence, and a commitment to empowering others. Originally from Birmingham, AL, Amiker relocated to Atlanta to expand her reach and build a legacy rooted in service, artistry, and impact. Driven, intentional, and purpose-centered, she continues to expand her influence while creating spaces where creativity, confidence, and community thrive. Amiker’s work reflects a passion not just for success but for meaningful impact and generational empowerment.

Mackenzie Harris Corbin (‘17)

FCS-Merchandising

Mackenzie Harris Corbin is the owner of Mad Hatter Cupcakes in Jacksonville, AL. Her career blends creativity, entrepreneurship, and community impact. She began baking as a child in her grandmother’s kitchen, eventually turning that passion into a successful bakery known for its warm atmosphere and innovative menus. As a small business owner and community leader, Corbin has created jobs, mentored young creatives, and championed local partnerships that strengthen her hometown. She is an inductee of the College of Education and Professional Studies Alumni Hall of Fame.

Torsten A. Dryden (‘14, ‘18, & ‘19)

Psychology/Counselor Education

Dr. Torsten A. Dryden is a Jax State Assistant Professor of Counselor Education. He is also the Founder and Clinical Director of Dryden Counseling, LLC, in Jacksonville, AL. Dryden earned his doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands in 2024. He is an LPC-S whose clinical, academic, and community leadership have made a significant impact across Alabama. As a licensed clinician serving both children and adults, he brings deep experience in supporting individuals through complex emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. His work as a practitioner directly informs his roles as a scholar, supervisor, and assistant professor, where he is committed to preparing the next generation of mental health professionals with excellence, integrity, and compassion.   

Briaunna Buckner Durhal (‘15 & ‘18)

Criminal Justice/Public Administration

Briaunna Buckner Durhal is an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP in Chicago, IL. She has represented Fortune 100 companies in high-stakes litigation from inception through appeal. Durhal has represented a range of clients in major investigations, trials, and appeals throughout the country, including clients in the information technology, automotive, e-commerce, beverage, and entertainment industries. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2025, Durhal clerked on the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the D.C. and Sixth Circuits. She is active in her community, serving as a board member of The Appellate Project, and maintains an active pro bono practice.

Whitney Flynn (‘15 & ‘17)

Geography/Emergency Management

Whitney Flynn is the hydrologist and FEMA Liaison Officer to the National Weather Service National Water Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Prior to her tenure with FEMA in 2021, she was among the first physical scientists within the National Water Center’s Operations Division starting in 2018. Flynn was pivotal in achieving the Department of Commerce priority goal focused on mitigating flood impacts through improved decision support services for the emergency management community. In 2019, she achieved her Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designation, becoming the first woman in the National Weather Service to receive this credential. Flynn also established FEMA’s first operational hydrology program, elevating hydrologic analysis and decision support across the agency.

FranShay Kendal Garrett (‘18 & ‘20)

English/English Language Arts (Secondary Education)

FranShay Kendal Garrett is Jax State’s Assistant Dean of Students for Fraternity & Sorority Life. She is an accomplished higher education professional and provides strategic oversight for all Greek Life operations. Known for her warm personality and dedication, Garrett is a highly sought-after mentor on campus. She cultivates a supportive environment where students consistently request her advice and guidance in everyday life. Garrett successfully brought the first Alpha Psi Lambda Chapter to Alabama at Jax State, and in her tenure has reactivated three National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations on campus. Her exceptional contributions were recognized when she was named one of four Jax State Employees of the Year in 2023 and received the first-ever NAACP Student Chapter Visionary Award presented at Jax State.   

Keaton Glass (‘17 & ‘21)

Education (Math)/Business Administration

Keaton Glass is Jax State’s Director of First and Second Year Experience, where he leads orientation, transition, and early-engagement initiatives that help new Gamecocks find community and momentum from day one. His role spans program design, stakeholder collaboration, and data-informed planning for GO! Sessions and college connections. Originally from Leeds, AL, Glass first made his mark on campus through deep involvement in student organizations and served as a Gamecock Orientation Leader/Coordinator. Professionally, he advises Freshman Forum, Lambda Sigma Sophomore Honor Society, and the Gamecock Orientation program – roles in which he mentors student leaders and orchestrates experiences that build belonging. Driven by a belief that early wins shape long-term success, Glass blends care, clarity, and collaboration to welcome each new class into the Jax State story, helping them thrive as scholars, leaders, and citizens.

Katy Knauss (‘17 & ‘19)

Sport Management/Business Marketing

Katy Knauss is the Brand Strategy Manager for the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, where she works directly with event promoters to develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns for concerts, family shows, conventions, and other events across the state’s largest venue complex. Her work supports economic impact, community engagement, and the continued cultural vibrancy of Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Among her notable accomplishments, Knauss was invited to speak at the Event & Venue Marketing Conference, sold out a Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event, and led a powerhouse local marketing campaign for Wicked. Knauss’ commitment to Jax State remains central to her identity, where she was a member of the Marching Southerners. She is a past president of the Grey Echelon Alumni Network, where she worked to strengthen relationships between current Southerners, alumni, and the university community.

Mark Knauss (‘16 & ‘18)

Music Education

Dr. Mark Knauss is the Director of Bands at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, AL. He was recently awarded the prestigious American Prize in Conducting, the nation’s most comprehensive and respected series of competitions in the performing arts. The American Prize in Conducting is known for recognizing conductors who not only demonstrate exceptional technical skill but also elevate their ensembles and communities. A dedicated educator and lifelong learner, Knauss holds a Doctor of Arts in Music Education from William Carey University. He is an active member of the National Association for Music Education, National Band Association, Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Kappa Kappa Psi.

Alex Martin (‘15)

Business Marketing

Alex Martin is the Area Director of Sales with CenterWell Home Health for North Alabama. Through 2025, he ranked third nationally among 71 Area Director of Sales based on his performance. Martin is an impressive medical sales professional who has used his education from Jax State to constantly better himself and also those around him. By the age of 26, just four years after earning his bachelor’s degree and beginning his professional career in medical sales, Martin was promoted to a management position. He has dedicated his professional career to the post-acute care industry. Martin credits his education at Jax State, his strong work ethic, and his desire to help his community for his success in his professional work in medical sales and in his personal life. His commitment to serving others, his positive outlook, and strong work ethic are evident in every area of his life.  

Taylor McAllister (‘19)

Communication

Taylor McAllister is a dynamic real estate professional with Keller Williams Realty Group. In four years, she established herself as a consistent top producer among the top three single agents in Calhoun County. McAllister’s career is defined by her commitment to helping clients navigate life-changing real estate decisions with integrity, expertise, and personalized service. Known for building strong community connections, she leverages innovative marketing strategies and mentorship to make a meaningful impact in the local housing market. Before entering real estate, McAllister served as Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Jax State, and as an undergraduate, represented the university as a Jax State Ambassador.

Cami McKenzie (‘17 & ‘22)

Accounting/Business Administration

Cami McKenzie is an Accounting Instructor and Program Director at Gadsden State Community College. Caring and enthusiastic, she is dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential. McKenzie creates a supportive classroom environment that encourages questions, participation, and student growth. She is also the Administrative Director and Co-Founder for the Safe Haven Counseling Foundation. She serves as the Chief Financial Officer, organizes and oversees events to increase awareness, and cultivates community support.

Geraldi Mejia (‘12)

Business Management

Geraldi Mejia is the Engineering Manager at M&J Steel, LLC, in Trussville, AL. He manages some of the company’s biggest commercial and industrial projects. In addition, Mejia played a key role in implementing the company’s operations software. He actively participates in the American Institute of Steel Construction Career Acceleration Program. While at Jax State, Mejia served as Head Equipment Manager for the baseball team, which he credits with helping him build resilience and determination.

Destin Mince (‘14)

Business Management

Destin Mince is the franchise owner of Frios Gourmet Pops in Gadsden, Alabama. He has also been an outstanding volunteer and supporter of the United Way of Etowah County, where he serves on the allocations committee. He plays an active role in the allocations process, giving his time and thoughtful input to ensure community resources are distributed effectively. Mince is a Chamber Ambassador for Etowah County, where he has volunteered with numerous chamber functions. Mince is the recipient of the Etowah Chamber Friend of Business Award. In addition, he was awarded Frios Pops Franchisee of the Year.   

Darby Angle-Nealy (‘20 & ‘22)

Sport Management

Darby Angle-Nealy is a realtor at Ebby Halliday Realtors in McKinney, TX. She is known for her commitment to providing exceptional service and going above and beyond for clients. During her time at Jax State, she was a Marching Ballerina and was crowned Miss Jacksonville State University in 2019. She worked with the university’s Title IX program during her time as Miss JSU. Prior to her start in real estate, she worked with professional teams like the Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Frisco RoughRiders.   

Landon Rice (‘19)

Integrated Studies

Landon Rice is an account executive at NewView Outdoor. He is also the Co-Founder and Director of Operations at Men Build Men in Cartersville, Georgia. He has experience in outdoor advertising, nonprofit leadership, emergency management, and insurance services. Rice has proven ability to lead teams, build organizations from the ground up, grow revenue, and serve communities with integrity. In addition, he is passionate about helping other young men become men of character and is an example of hard work, determination, perseverance, and genuine compassion. Rice was a student athlete during his time at Jax State and currently represents the football program on the Jax State Athletic Foundation Board.  

Josh Robinson (‘14 & ‘17)

Management/Business Administration

Dr. Josh Robinson is Jax State’s Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. He has become a driving force in connecting students, alumni, and campus partners through purposeful programming and data-informed leadership. He has also been recognized nationally as a Pi Kappa Phi “30 Under 30” honoree. Robinson partners with student speakers for the Lifetime Leaders Event to showcase student voices. In addition, he launched the Student Leadership digital badge, developed with Online@JSU and Marketing and Communications, to recognize growth and credential leadership development. Robinson completed his doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of West Georgia.

Frank James Roscoe, Jr. (‘09 & ‘12)

Communication/Public Administration

Frank James Roscoe, Jr. is a realtor at Norluxe Realty Birmingham and has distinguished himself as one of Birmingham’s top-producing realtors. Roscoe’s success reflects not only professional excellence but also a commitment to integrity, relationship-building, and elevating the communities he serves. Beyond his career accomplishments, Roscoe invests his time mentoring young men and emerging professionals, offering guidance and support to help them navigate academic, personal, and career pathways. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, upholding principles of scholarship, service, and advocacy, while participating in civic initiatives and community development efforts. Roscoe continues to support Jax State as a lifetime member of the Alumni Association.  

Matt Shaffer (‘10)

Computer Science

Matt Shaffer is a Software Engineer at Microsoft. He is a technical contributor and a pillar for shaping team culture. Shaffer has a broad array of technical capabilities that he uses to leverage cloud resources to solve business problems and apply cutting-edge AI techniques. Shaffer earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science with a minor in Military Science from Jax State and completed a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Washington in 2022. Prior to his time at Microsoft, he completed basic and advanced training, serving in the Alabama National Guard as an IT Specialist for the 20th Special Forces Group Support Company. Beyond his professional success, Matt remains deeply engaged with Jax State and was recognized as the 2025 Young Alum of the Year.

Stuart Whitaker (‘07)

Business

Stuart Whitaker is the Senior Vice President for Commercial Banking at ServisFirst Bank for the Huntsville region. He is responsible for bringing relationships to the bank, growing existing ones, and addressing the needs of commercial and industrial clients, along with managing commercial real estate needs. At ServisFirst Bank since 2018, Whitaker has displayed exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and dedication to client success. He is a member of Leadership Greater Huntsville, where he graduated from Connect 22 and Flagship Class 37. Additionally, he is a member of the Committee of 100 Young Professionals and the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville.

Clay Whittemore (‘08)

Finance

Clay Whittemore is the Americas Region Operations Controller and Manufacturing Finance Director at Reliance Worldwide Corporation (Sharkbite, Plumbing Solutions). He received his undergraduate degree from Jax State in 2008 and is a distinguished member of the Jax State Athletics Hall of Fame. Following his collegiate career, Whittemore earned his MBA in Finance from the University of Alabama. In his current role, he partners with global executives to drive operational excellence, financial performance, and continuous improvement across six manufacturing plants. Prior to joining Reliance, Whittemore held key financial leadership roles at Honeywell International and Procter & Gamble, where he was recognized for his strategic insight, process excellence, and people-first leadership.

Jesslan Wilson (‘17)

Political Science

Jesslan Wilson is the Deputy County Manager for the Shelby County Commission. She earned her Master of Public Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2019. Wilson began her career in economic development at the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, where she advanced through multiple roles before becoming the Director of Economic Development in 2021. In May 2024, Wilson joined the Shelby County Commission, where she manages a variety of capital projects and departments. She is also an active member of her community, being a part of Leadership Shelby County - Class of 2025, Appalachian Leadership Institute Fellow - Class of 2024, Board Member of 58, Inc. (Shelby County’s Economic Development Corporation), Board Member of the Shelby County Community Corrections Corporation, and member/Vice-Chair of The Shelby County Chamber, Governmental Affairs Work Group.
