International Students

Application DeadlineApril 1. 

To be considered for participation in the International House, please check if you meet one of the following criteria and follow the process:

1) Merit Based Scholarship Recipient: If you are granted one of the merit-based scholarships, your application to the International House will be considered. Find below the list of documents to be submitted: 

  • Complete this application
  • Essay explaining your background, accomplishments and why you should be selected as International House member.
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation

If your scholarship does not cover all of your expenses, you will have to show proof of financial support to cover the rest of your academic costs. Please contact us for the amount to be shown on your proof of financial document.

2) International Student Exchange: If you attend one of our partner institutions and have been selected by your home institution to attend JSU, your application to the International House will be considered. You must already have been accepted to JSU as an exchange student. Find below the list of documents to be submitted: 

  • Complete this application
  • Essay explaining your background, accomplishments and why you should be selected as International House member.
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation

If the agreement between host and home institutions do not cover all of your expenses, you will have to show proof of financial support to cover the rest of your academic costs. Please contact us for the amount to be shown on your proof of financial document.

3) International Undergraduate: If you are international undergraduate student who do not fall under Items 1 and 2 above but meet the eligibility criteria for the international house application, you must submit the following listed documents:

  • Complete this application
  • Essay explaining your background, accomplishments and why you should be selected as International House member.
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Copy of High School transcript and/or diploma
  • Meet English Proficiency Skills (Test scores as listed on International Admissions page)

You must send proof of financial support to cover the rest of your academic cost of attendance. Proof of financial support may be a bank letter or bank statement showing a checking or saving account balance. For the minimum amount to be shown on the financial support document, email intladmissions@jsu.edu
