Graduating from Jacksonville State in December of 1992, Dr. Eric Mackey was hired as a high school Physics teacher in Calhoun County. For eight years, he held the position of Superintendent for Jacksonville City Schools. He eventually became an advocate on behalf of Alabama school systems, as the Executive Director of SSA (School Superintendents of Alabama) in 2011. As a Gamecock alum, Dr. Mackey has advocated strong leadership and proactive support through his position as State Superintendent of Education.
