Carleton Bartlett Gibson, 1886-1892
Born and raised in Mobile, Ala., Carleton Bartlett Gibson graduated from the University of Alabama in the A.B. class in 1884, and the university bestowed upon him an honorary A.M. degree. Prior to joining the State Normal School faculty, he taught in Autauga County for about a year. In 1886, he became president and served until 1892.
