Student Responsibilities
The student should meet with the preceptor to review and complete the required documents. Together they will review the objectives of the practicum and develop a schedule of planned dates to precept.

About Nursing Practicum
Practicum is designed to support success on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and enhance the transition from the student role to a practicing registered nurse. Jacksonville State University is excited to collaborate with external agencies in the preparation of future generations of registered nurses.
Preceptor Responsibilities
The preceptor should be familiar with the objectives of the practicum. The student’s identified areas of competency and areas of needed experience will serve as a guide for the preceptor during the practicum experience.
Evaluation
Preceptors are considered to be expert role models who are willing to share their knowledge and clinical experience utilizing effective learning strategies. Preceptors provide helpful feedback to students and faculty.
