October 28, 2003 -- Karen Davis
of Jacksonville is the new director
of human resources at Jacksonville State University. Mrs. Davis joined JSU as
assistant director of human resources in 1990 and rose to acting director in
April 2002. She has approximately 15 years of experience in her field.
Certified as a senior professional in human resources, Mrs. Davis holds a B.S. in industrial
psychology from Auburn University and a master’s in
personnel management from Troy. From 1984 to 1988, Mrs. Davis
worked as a personnel analyst with the state personnel department, and then
served as departmental personnel officer with the state attorney general’s
office for six months. She was
director of Faulkner University's executive bachelor of
business program from 1988 to 1990.
She is married to John W. Davis, Jr., a graduate of JSU. John is employed by the Calhoun County Health
Department. They have one son, Caleb, a student at Kitty Stone Elementary.
JSU’s human resources office
serves more than 970 full and part-time employees, including
faculty.
