Dr. Russell Hammack
Dr. Russell Hammack is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Secondary Education. He obtained his B.S. in Secondary Education with a focus in History/Geography from The University of Alabama. He also earned a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and instruction in Secondary Social Science from The University of Alabama. His research interests include: educational policy, high stakes testing, technology integration, and the use of primary source documents as a method of improving student achievement. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Secondary History/Social Sciences, general education courses, and supervises students during their clinical experiences at local area schools. Dr. Hammack taught for 13 years in the Tuscaloosa City Schools system. During his tenure in Tuscaloosa, he taught Secondary Social Science courses that included the International Baccalaureate program. He was nominated by his school twice for Alabama Teacher of the Year. Dr. Hammack advises History and Social Studies Education majors, and his teaching load includes Teaching Social Science and Integrated Instructional Design. He enjoys vacationing with his family along the Gulf Coast, JSU football, playing golf, and riding horses. |
