Special Education: Collaborative K-6 & 6-12 Alternative A

The Collaborative K-6 and 6-12 Alternative A Program is designed for you if you want to teach in a special education collaborative setting K-12 and you have a previous degree in an academic discipline other than education. Eligibility for the Alternative-A Program includes a 2.75 GPA in the previously earned undergraduate degree, completion of ED 300, advisement in the Teacher Education Services Center, and satisfaction of any undergraduate deficiencies as required by the ALSDE code. 

  1. A combination of face-to-face, online, and hybrid graduate level courses in collaborative methods, assessment, assistive technology, and diversity
  2. Clinical Experiences in a variety of special education settings 
  3. Specialty courses include advanced assessment, assistive technology, and applied behavior analysis 

You can complete the Collaborative K-6 and 6-12 Alternative A Program and be eligible for an Alabama Teacher Class A Certification in K-6 and 6-12 Collaborative Education.
