Economics is the study of human behavior in the presence of limited resources. Through studying economics, students learn a way of thinking about the world that opens up multiple career opportunities in academics, business, consulting, government, and many more! A degree in economics also opens up multiple post-graduate opportunities such as a law degree, MBA, or PhD.
Students can pursue the BS in economics or the BA in economics. Students pursuing the BS will complete thirty-nine hours of general core courses and twenty-seven hours of lower level business courses during their freshman and sophomore years. Beginning in their junior year, students will begin taking thirty hours of upper level business courses and twenty-four hours of economics major courses. Students pursuing the BA will substitute general electives or a minor for the upper and lower level business courses.
