Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (Doctor of Nursing Practice)
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a terminal degree in nursing that prepares Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to practice at the highest level of the profession. The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Track of the DNP program prepares registered nurses for advanced clinical practice and leadership roles. The AGACNP provides direct patient care to patients in acute care facilities and a broad array of specialty clinics. This track prepares students to meet the educational eligibility requirements to take a national certification examination through American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). In the AGACNP track, students obtain 700 clinical hours composed of simulation and direct patient care.
