Jacksonville State University Constitution Day
Each year, JSU holds an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17th in accordance with the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005, Section 111.*
Constitution Day is sponsored by JSU’s American Democracy Project and is announced to the public on the JSU home page under “Upcoming Events” and the JSU calendar.

*The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005, (Pub. L. 108-447), Section 111, requires educational institutions that receive Federal funds to hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of each year, commemorating the September 17, 1787 signing of the Constitution.
However, when September 17 falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, Constitution Day shall be held during the preceding or following week. See also the Department’s Federal Register Notice of the Implementation of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day on September 17 of each year.
