Mark Sciuchetti, Assistant Professor of Marketing, holds a PhD and an MM from Florida State University, an MBA from Jacksonville State University, and an MA in History from Columbus State University. He is completing his DBA at Texas State University. His research interests include geomarketing, consumer behavior, neuromarketing, spatial retail analytics, and cultural geography. He has collaborated across many fields, including marketing, business, geography, history, and musicology.
His current research explores how geographic location and spatial competition shape consumer behavior, pairing mobility analytics with neuromarketing tools such as eye tracking, and facial expression analysis. As faculty co-director of the Martin’s Family Clothing Consumer Behavior Research Laboratory, he leads studies connecting where consumers shop with how they respond, including work on retail entry effects in the Anniston–Oxford trade area.
His earlier doctoral research explored soundscapes on the Hudson River, New York, USA and the affectual capacity of sound to create and (re)create place and identity, and he has also used business analytics and consumer clustering to engage nonprofits in marketing, heritage tourism, and indigenous representation in Ohio. He has received grants for his research from Florida State University, the Society for American Music, the National Park Service, Jacksonville State University, and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, whose recent award supports the AI and Marketing Academy. With Dr. Jianping “Coco” Huang, he received the Best Paper Award in the Consumer Behavior Track at the 50th Atlantic Marketing Association Conference in 2025.
Currently, he teaches undergraduate classes in Digital Marketing and Advertising and Promotions, along with many other special topics courses. In the classroom, he is interested in fostering collaborative learning and active participation, field work, and real-world experience and analysis.
