Dr. Daniel P. Mertens is a Professor of Management in the College of Business and Industry at Jacksonville State University. Dr. Mertens was awarded a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Arizona where he had also earned a Master of Business Administration degree with emphases in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Colorado State University. Prior to his graduate study, Dr. Mertens held careers as a commercial broker and corporate banker. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Mertens has taught a variety of business classes at the Undergraduate, MBA, Doctoral, and Executive levels. He has taught at several U.S. and international universities, winning multiple teaching awards at four different institutions. Dr. Mertens has numerous publications on assorted management topics and presented numerous scholarly lectures in the U.S and Europe. His research interests include strategic principles, human judgment, individual and organizational decision making, and organizational behavior. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Mertens has served the business community through consulting activities in a number of areas. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Academy of Management, Southern Academy of Management, Global Conference on Business and Economics, and The Society of Business, Industry, and Economics. He has served in numerous capacities, including panelist, discussant, session chair, and reviewer for a variety of Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, and General Business divisions.
