Meet with your Academic Advisor before applying.

All Majors Within the College of Arts and Humanities

  • Meet With Your Academic Advisor
    • Schedule your appointment with your Academic Advisor to go over your degree evaluation.
  • Apply to Graduate After Meeting With Your Academic Advisor and they have verified you have met the requirements of your degree.

  • ETS Proficiency Profile Exit Exam (EPP)
    • Once you have applied for graduation, the instructions will be sent to you via email.
  • Graduating Senior Survey
    • During the semester you plan to graduate a link will be sent to you via email.
  • Attend the Graduation Fair
    • Dates will be announced at the top of this page.
    • Cap and Gown Pictures will be taken and “Shout Outs” will be recorded during the Fair.

JSU requires ALL students to take the EPP Exit Exam during their last semester.  EPP Exit Exam Information

Major Field Exam (MFAT) is administered during the graduating semester and in accordance with accreditation standards.  Registration information and dates for the MFAT will be announced by each department and distributed to students who have followed application instructions. 

All students must apply for graduation by the deadline posted by JSU. This is during the term before they plan on completing degree requirements. There will be a $50.00 non-refundable charge to your account when you apply. Make sure you are applying for the right term.

Graduating with a double major

If you are double majoring, you should meet with your academic advisor from both majors to determine if you have met the requirements for each of your majors.

Students who have earned Latin Honors can purchase their gold honor cords at the on-campus bookstore before graduation. Latin Honors are based on the students overall institutional GPA hours.

Latin Honors designations are:

  • Summa cum laude 3.9-4.0
  • Magna cum laude 3.7-3.89
  • Cum laude 3.5-3.69
  • Special honors 3.5 average in the major field of study and a 3.25 Institutional GPA
