Vail College Fellows
Thank you for considering Jax State! We are impressed by your participation in undergraduate research with your BSC faculty. We want you to know that opportunities for undergraduate scholarly and creative activity exist at Jax State.
Vail College Fellows may be interested in the following:
The Psychology Department offers undergraduate research courses in which students conduct research projects with faculty mentors. These projects are designed based on faculty's ongoing research programs, or in some cases, individually based on a student's specific interest. For students seeking experience in basic research, we have a newly renovated animal laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment for conducting studies with rats. Our research students are encouraged to present their findings at local, state, regional, and national conferences.
The Sociology Department offers opportunities for undergraduate research through independent study courses and/or grant-funded research assistantships. In these roles, students collaborate with faculty mentors to conduct research projects. Typically, these projects align with faculty members' ongoing research programs, covering diverse topics such as end of life doulas, bouncers at drinking establishments, juvenile delinquency, Harry Potter fandom, sexual assault, deviance, and more. Additionally, students have the option to pursue research projects based on their specific interests. Students have the opportunity to receive funding to present at conferences, and many sociology students' research projects have led to publications.
