The Weather Channel's Forecast Earth Summit

Joshua Morrison, the sixteen year old Founder and Director of GEEKs in the Woods (Gaming Environmentally Educated Kids or www.geeksinthewoods.org ), has been selected as a national Eco-Ambassador to The Weather Channel's Forecast Earth Summit. Joshua, along with nineteen other teenagers from across the country, will be traveling to Washington, DC from December 7 – 9, 2007, to meet with climatologists, other scientists, and to collect their Weather Channel prizes.

The winners were selected from hundreds of American teenagers in a two step process: essay competition and interview.

Joshua is a sophomore at Jacksonville High School. He is the son of Jamie Morrison (Motorola) and Renee Morrison (JSU) of Calhoun County and the Grandson of Lillie Mae Beam of Etowah County. This will be his second trip to Washington, DC this year…the USDA Forest Service sponsored his trip as part of the national “More Kids in the Woods” forum in March when he represented Generation Y's (GEN Y) environmental concerns by presenting a speech at the American Academy of Science.
