Dr. Delap Serves as Interim Associate VP
for Student Affairs


Dr. Joe Delap, Jacksonville State University's associate vice president for academic affairs since August 2002, has agreed to fill in as interim associate vice president for student affairs until the university fills the post vacated recently by Dr. Marvin Jenkins, who retired.

Student affairs encompasses the following offices or departments: Admissions Office, Career Placement Services, Counseling and Career Services, Cooperative Education Program, Disability Support Services, Financial Aid, Orientation and Advisement Services, Recreational Sports, Student Life, Student Health Center, University Housing, and University Police.

Dr. Delap, who received his Ph.D. from Indiana University in German studies/culture studies, served as associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Central Arkansas before coming to JSU. Dr. Delap earned the Bachelor of Arts in political science and French from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He earned a Master of Arts in German studies/culture studies from Indiana University, as well as a master of arts in political science from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Delap recently participated in Oxford University's Round Table, where he presented on "The Changing Face of the Professoriate: Challenge and Potential for Diversity among Faculty at American Universities."

Dr. Delap resides in Jacksonville with his wife, Melanie, and two children.
