JSU News Bureau

The Jacksonville State University History Club invites everyone to attend movie night on Thursday, September 22 at 325 Stone Center. The featured movie will be "The Fog of War," which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2003. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the movie begins at 7 p.m.

"The Fog of War" is an Errol Morris documentary about Robert McNamara, secretary of defense in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, who later became president of the World Bank.

"Several JSU history professors will attend to provide commentary on the movie," said Dr. Llewellyn Cook, faculty advisor of the History Club.

The documentary features an interview with McNamara, who discusses some of the tragedies and glories of the 20th century, archival footage, documents, and an original score by Philip Glass.

The film is framed through chapters, each beginning with a title card that states a "lesson" of war that McNamera learned as a result of his experience with Vietnam and the world.

For more information about the movie or the JSU History Club, call Dr. Cook at (256) 782-8309 or e-mail lcook@jsu.edu.
