Phi Beta Kappa Meeting Nov. 20

18 November 2004 — The Phi Beta Kappa Association of North Alabama invites you to a meeting Saturday, November 20, at 10:00 a.m. to be held in the President’s Dining Room located in the Jack Hopper Cafeteria. The Association is a Phi Beta Kappa alumni group that provides scholarly lectures to the university community and helps to raise scholarship money.

The Fall meeting is highlighted by an address from a JSU faculty member. This year the program will be provided by Dr. Safaa Al-Hamdani of the Biology Department who will discuss the Books for Baghdad program and answer attendees' questions on the changing conditions in Iraq.

Dr. Safaa Al-Hamdani will be presenting a native Iraqi's view of the situation in Iraq and his efforts, with the assistance of the university community, to have a postive effect through the Books for Baghdad program. Dr. Safaa Al-Hamdani holds a B.S degree from Baghdad University, an M.S degree from Tuskegee University, and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. He has been a member of the faculty at Jacksonville State University since 1992. Attendees may purchase brunch in the cafeteria and bring it to the President’s Dining Room. There is no charge for attending the meeting.
